Box Score GOSHEN, Ind. — The 110 minutes of double overtime proved insufficient to produce a winner Wednesday night as Goshen and Indiana Tech reached a 0-0 women's soccer stalemate at the John Ingold Athletic Complex.
Natalie Thorne made eight saves to preserve her second shutout of the season for Goshen (2-2-1), which played overtime for the first time in six matches dating back to the penultimate contest of 2015. The Maple Leafs had two early chances to score as Melanie Drinkwater missed the near post by inches in the first minute, then had an attempt saved in the eighth.
Ultimately, the Warriors (1-2-2) finished with a 20-9 shot edge and an 8-5 advantage in attempts on target. Jessica Zurcher took five shots to lead all players, while Jessica Marin put all three of her attempts on frame. Indiana Tech netminder Tailer Roscoe was credited with five saves.
Goshen finished the game with five corner kicks and Indiana Tech had two, all of which came in the second half of regulation and none of which led to a shot attempt. The teams combined for 29 shots, six fewer than in last year's game, which did not require overtime.
Drinkwater's three shots led Goshen, followed by Ginyce Haywood's two. The five Goshen shots on goal came from five different players.
Goshen returns to the field at 4 p.m. Saturday to host Rochester. The Maple Leafs' 16 varsity seniors will be honored before the match, which was the final non-conference home game on the original schedule.
More, including comments from Goshen coach Scott Gloden, to come when available.
