Box Score FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Paige Renshaw scored a first-half goal to pull into a tie for the team scoring lead as the Goshen College women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with the University of Saint Francis in a Crossroads League match at Bishop D'Arcy Stadium.
Renshaw's fourth strike of the season came with 23:32 left in the first half and put the Maple Leafs (7-6-1, 2-4-1) out in front for the second consecutive game. Saint Francis (2-11-3, 0-6-1) took the next seven shots and went into the locker room trailing 1-0 on the scoreboard but leading 7-4 in the shot column.
Hannah Ehrhardt took a pass from Brey Baltazar and leveled the score less than nine minutes into the second half, and neither team would put another shot on target until the clock had dipped below 20 minutes.
Taliah Borom pestered USF netminder Melanie Xouris into making a save in the 71st minute and Goshen goalkeeper Katie Baer had four saves in a four-minute span from the 77th to the 81st minutes. The Maple Leafs had the final offensive chance of regulation coming on a corner kick with 2 minutes remaining.
USF took two shots and Goshen one in the pair of 10-minute overtime periods. Saint Francis added four corner kicks in the second overtime, finishing with a margin of 8-4 in that category and 19-7 in total shots.
Xouris made 5 saves and Baer added 12, reaching the 100-save plateau for the third time in as many seasons and passing 1994 graduate Julie Plank for the fourth-most saves in program history with 375 for her career.
Ehrhardt, Baltazar and Calista Geiger each led all players with 4 shots for USF. Borom, Renshaw and Beatriz Meneghin each led Goshen with 2.
While the draw prevented Goshen from clinching its first Crossroads League tournament berth since 2016, the Maple Leafs moved a step closer to that by ensuring that Saint Francis cannot finish ahead of them. The simplest way for GC to lock in that berth would be to win one of its remaining two games, although other scenarios involving losses by Huntington and Bethel also exist.
Goshen's last road trip of the regular season, slated for Saturday, is also its longest. The Maple Leafs travel to central Ohio to square off with Mount Vernon Nazarene in a 7 p.m. kickoff at Mount Vernon High School.
