Barrie Posts Double-Double As GC Men Win Third Straight

Box Score

GOSHEN, Ind. — Alhassan Barrie got his first career double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds Monday night as the Goshen College men's basketball team topped Wilberforce University 78-66 in Gunden Gymnasium.

Billy Geschke and Logan Primerano added 14 points apiece for the Maple Leafs (8-5), who shot 49 percent from the floor and led for the final 16 minutes of the first half. A stingy, trapping defense kept Wilberforce (2-13) in the game until a 24-7 Goshen run finished the Bulldogs off in the second half.

Goshen's Patryck Ostrowski led all players with four blocks; Devin Heath-Granger added four assists as the Maple Leafs won their third straight game, averaging more than 100 points per game in that span.

"That was a very ugly win, but we handled our business against a tough, aggressive style," said Goshen coach Jon Tropf. "26 turnovers is way too many, but defensively we played really well."

The Maple Leafs return to action Friday at the Southeastern University Classic in Lakeland, Florida, facing NAIA Division II number-24 Warner University at 6 p.m.
