Box Score

GOSHEN, Ind. — Demarkus Stuckey scored 22 points and Carter Boos came one short of his career high with 11 Tuesday night, but the Goshen College men's basketball team dropped a 93-75 Crossroads League contest to Huntington University in Gunden Gymnasium.

Both teams came out firing, combining to make 17 of their first 22 field goal attempts and running the score to 22-16 Huntington in the first seven minutes. The Foresters (13-6, 3-4) had their hot streak last longer, getting eight Peyton West points in a two-minute span to take an 18-point lead by the 8:09 mark.

Goshen (6-13, 0-7) got its next five baskets from four players, with Ben Cotton doubling up, and Boos would score the team's last 5 points of the half as the Maple Leafs entered the locker room trailing 49-38. Each team made more shots than it missed in the first half, with Goshen shooting 51 percent and Huntington shooting 60 percent, and both sides converted on seven 3-pointers.

Stuckey took over with 8 points in the first four minutes after halftime, bringing the Maple Leafs within 5 points at 56-51, before a 9-0 Huntington run ensured that the hosts would get no closer. Stuckey scored 17 of his 22 points in the second half.

Huntington used seven players in the win, with all five starters going at least 30 minutes. Zac Owens led all scorers with 29 points on 11-of-14 shooting, followed by Peyton West with 21 and Caleb Middlesworth with 19. The Foresters shot 67 percent (35-of-52) overall and 55 percent (11-of-20) from 3-point range: all five starters sank a triple, led by West and Spencer Ballinger with three apiece.

Cotton and Colton Noel each scored 12 for the Maple Leafs, who got a game-high 10 rebounds from Alhassan Barrie. Stuckey chipped in 6 rebounds and 7 assists, one short of Nick Macon's game high. Goshen held its guest to 2 offensive rebounds.

The Maple Leafs matched their season high with 14 three-pointers, posting that mark on 36 attempts for a 39 percent clip. Goshen was 29-for-62 (47 percent) from the floor.

Goshen hits the road for four of its next six games, five of which come against opponents that have been ranked in the NAIA Division II coaches poll at some point this season. The Maple Leafs travel to Saint Francis, which is not currently in the top 25, for a 3 p.m. tip-off on Saturday.
