NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Trevor Franklin's career-high 13 points paced the Goshen College men's basketball team Saturday afternoon in an 83-60 loss to Holy Cross College at the McKenna Arena in the Pfeil Center on the HCC campus.

Franklin dialed long distance 3 times and added a pair of two-point goals, both in the first half, to set a new personal record for points in a game by the intermission. He contributed 4 rebounds, leading all GC backcourt players, in 26 minutes.

Michael Bowers added 10 points and Tajh Curry had 9. Austin Branagan and Tanner Camp each led the team with 5 rebounds and Colin Flowers chipped in a pair of steals.

Holy Cross, which received votes in the NAIA coaches poll, got 18 points from Storm Cook to lead all scorers. Larenzo Moore added 16 to go with a game-high 8 rebounds, while Jordan Gaines scored 14 and Robby Jimenez had 13.

Caleb Pack chipped in 6 assists off the bench for HCC, which assisted on half of its 36 field goals. The Saints shot 36-of-65 (55 percent) from the floor and 7-of-18 (39 percent) from downtown. Goshen countered with 38 percent and 27 percent respectively.

The Saints, who shot 70 percent in a 47-point first half, raced to an 18-5 lead by the 14-minute mark on 8 points from Cook. Goshen responded by scoring 18 of the next 28 points to trim the margin to 3, but 13 unanswered from the home side sent the margin back to 17 at halftime.

Jimenez sank a 3-pointer with 4:37 left to put Holy Cross up 28, but Colin Flowers answered that with four of his six points on Goshen's next two possessions. Franklin added a pair of 3-pointers in the final minute.

Goshen heads to Ohio for its next road trip, taking on Wilberforce University of the NAIA at 7 p.m. Friday before visiting Central State University of NCAA Division II at 3 p.m. Saturday.
